WHAT THE CALCULATOR INCLUDES
The fee base, category, order amount, listing allowance, and optional services all affect the eBay estimate from this calculator. This table shows the assumptions used by the calculator.
| Fee or input | Working rule in this estimate | What you can change |
|---|---|---|
| Final value fee | Selected category rate × fee base; some profiles use a lower band above a threshold. | Change profile; verify exceptions in Seller Hub. |
| Fixed order fee | $0.30 at or below $10; $0.40 above. | Applied automatically. |
| Insertion fee | $0.35 only when free listings = 0. | Set free listings to 0 to test. |
| Promoted Listings | Entered ad rate × fee base. | Enter the actual rate; default is 0%. |
| Shipping and sales tax | Buyer shipping, handling, and tax remain visible because they may affect fee base. | Change inputs and compare checkout with payout. |
| International or conversion fees | Optional 1.65% international and 3% conversion scenarios. | Enable only when applicable. |
Profiles are based on the eBay Selling fees reference reviewed September 3, 2026. eBay may change rates, categories, discounts, and account charges. Read the official eBay fee details.
FROM FEES TO A SELLING DECISION
eBay fees show the platform charge; profit asks whether the listing is worth it after real costs. Payout and profit are different numbers.
Payout is item price, buyer shipping, and handling after fees. Profit subtracts inventory, seller shipping, packaging, and other costs. Sales tax may affect fees, but is not business revenue here.
Break-even re-runs the selected profile until profit is about zero. Use it for pricing scenarios, then confirm the actual listing's fee details.
DEFAULT EXAMPLE
At 8.25% tax, $18 COGS, and $6.50 seller shipping, the example gives $63.85 checkout, $9.08 fees, $49.90 payout, and $25.40 profit.
TRANSPARENT BOUNDARIES
This estimate uses the selected US profile and your inputs. It does not read your account, store plan, discounts, or future fee changes; the review date and source link show the rate assumption.
Use it for pricing and margin checks. Confirm high-value or unusual orders in Seller Hub, especially when returns, refunds, advertising, taxes, or account adjustments apply.
Final value, order, insertion, promoted, international, conversion, performance, and dispute scenarios, plus checkout, payout, costs, profit, margin, and break-even.
Checkout is not revenue. Tax can enter checkout and fee base but is excluded from profit.
Rates vary by country, category, seller status, and plan. Check the official source before pricing a high-value listing.
COMMON SELLER QUESTIONS
Use these answers to interpret shipping, tax, payout, and account-level differences.
eBay does not use one rate for every sale. Category, fee base, order fee, seller account, and optional services matter; the tool shows each charge.
Yes, they are separate. Buyer-paid shipping may enter the fee base, while seller shipping is a business cost. Compare the selected profile with your listing.
Tax can affect checkout and the fee base, but this estimate excludes it from seller revenue and profit.
Fees are platform charges. Payout is what remains after fees; profit is payout minus inventory, shipping, packaging, and other costs.
